Le Prieuré de Bourg Charente

I discovered Le Prieuré as a maid of honour at my cousins wedding in 2024. The atmosphere is very laid back, and the place is stunning so it was the perfect place for 3 days of festivities. The weather was perfect as well so it was great to be able to swim in the big pool and really turned it into a holiday and made it that much more special - I had booked a room in the village just 2 minutes walk. The village is very pretty too, the most romantic wedding setting I have come across !

Avec les nombreuses possibilités d’aménagement pour la cérémonie, le cocktail et le dîner, il est facile de créer une journée qui vous ressemble vraiment. Les espaces de préparation pour les mariés sont lumineux, élégants et très bien pensés. Les extérieurs offrent une grande variété de décors pour les photos, notamment à la lumière douce de la fin de journée. Les hôtes sont accueillants, professionnels et veillent toujours à ce que la propriété soit impeccable. C’est un lieu paisible et privé, qui reste personnel et authentique — loin des lieux impersonnels et standardisés. Un endroit vraiment spécial pour se marier.

The venue is absolutely stunning – full of history, charm, and character. It truly felt like we were getting married in a family home, which made our day feel all the more intimate and special. The grounds are stunning, and inside is just as beautiful. We were able to seamlessly pivot our plans due to the rain to have a wonderful, cosy dinner and dancing party indoors. Dominic and family were incredibly accommodating during our stay and during the planning. If you’re looking for a wedding venue with a deeply personal touch, look no further. It was our dream venue wedding.

We booked this venue after a video walk around with the owner Dominic. He helped us arrange catering and offered a wealth of knowledge on the surrounding area. The venue is incredible, the grounds are beautiful and the catering was beyond our expectations. Our wedding day was perfect from start to finish, from canapés on the terrace the night before to the pool party we had the day after. Dominic and his wife were on hand to help and ask questions to. We cannot thank or recommend Le Prieure enough. Our day would not have been the same anywhere else.

When we were choosing our venue, we wanted something that felt rustic but classy with a cosy atmosphere. We viewed a couple of venues but we felt so at home here! The river is so peaceful and the buildings add a touch of class. Ester and Dominic were truly amazing as we planned it all over the phone and the food was some of the best I’ve ever tasted ! All of the guests never stopped talking about the food and how stunning the grounds were. We will always treasure our special day here ! Xxx

This was such a beautiful location for a wedding. From the aperitifs on the river bank under the fantastic trees, to the wonderful meal in the marquee, everything was idyllic and looked flawless. The wedding day itself was perfect but the drinks on the Friday evening and the poolside lunch on Sunday were also part of what made the whole weekend so memorable. All the guests were delighted with everything and said it was the nicest wedding they had attended.
